Taco Ngon (ngon = delicious in Vietnamese) started as a humble stand on the side of the road and has become a regular in many Da Nang residents’ food rotation. It’s a decidedly fusion taco, so if you’re seeking carne asada with sour cream and cheese, you won’t find it here. But what you will find at Taco Ngon is Taiwanese-style stewed pork topped with your choice of wasabi coleslaw or yogurt salsa and deep-fried fish with tangy ginger-lime sauce. You can also mix and match any sauce you want with any meat, so you can get a wasabi-coleslaw fish taco (awesome!) or ginger-lime pork. To quench your thirst or put out the wasabi fire, there’s also a serve-yourself cooler of ice-cold beer and tequila shots for a mere 25,000 VND.

In addition to the regular offerings, every week Elin makes a new flavor for Taco Tuesday. In 3 months there have been no repeats, which is pretty impressive. Past flavors have included Thai pork, chicken curry, shrimp & squid with mango salsa and kimchi beef, pictured below.

There’s also a monthly leaderboard where the Taco King and Queen can have their names proudly displayed for all Taco Ngon customers to revere. To help you along in your quest for taco royalty, you get a free tequila shot every 4 tacos. As you can imagine, usurping the throne is considerably harder at the end of the month after all the hopefuls have given their best effort.
Unfortunately for Queen Allison, her reign was short-lived.
On October 4, 2015, Taco Ngon reopened in the new location at 60 Chau Thi Vinh Te to much fanfare. Guests were even treated to a special musical performance from long-time Da Nang residents Des & Troy.
